Fire Guard Training  Services

This four hour course helps the student to review all of the areas of study they will need to know in order to successfully complete the Examination for the Certificate of Fitness for Fireguard. The course includes materials related to the responsibilities of a fireguard, understanding safety procedures, signage and fire suppression systems. The NYFD certification test is not administered during the class. You will have to report to Metro Tech Center in Brooklyn to take the examination

Citywide Fire Guard for Impairment

In any occupancy where a required fire protection system is out of service, a fire watch shall be maintained by one or more persons holding a Certificate of Fitness.

Fire Guard for Shelters

A Certificate of Fitness is required by all Fire Guards in buildings or parts thereof occupied or operated to be occupied as a homeless or emergency shelters.

Fire Guard for Torch Operations

The fire watch for torch operations conducted at the following locations must be conducted by F-60 fire guards:

 

Construction sites

On any rooftop, or in connection with any torch-applied roofing system operation

In any building or structure, when the torch operation is conducted by a person holding a citywide permit for torch operations.

S-95

Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems

Any building with an FDNY approved fire alarm system or other related system is required to be under the supervision of a Certificate of Fitness holder. The S-95 Certificate of Fitness is authorized to personally supervise the visual inspection of a Fire Alarm Systems without any voice communication system.

 

This Certificate of Fitness is valid only at a specific location and for the specific person to whom it is issued.
